Hamilton-Gibson Productions will present Miss Holmes Returns, the highly anticipated sequel to Miss Holmes that picks up the action a few years later. Holmes and Watson have been actively hunting for the elusive “Professor,” a powerful leader of an international crime syndicate. This work is quietly supported by the Queen’s government, as directed by Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft Holmes.
A note on accents: We are not asking the cast to perform with British accents. That said, each of these characters comes from very specific places and social classes. It is up to the actor to find a way to portray this clear class and ethnic distinctions in their performance, so we encourage you to try things out during the audition. As this is a sequel, certain cast members from the 2019 production will be returning as well, but there are still strong roles to be cast. Thank you for your interest! See the cast list below... |
Priyah Singh – young woman, early 20s-30s. A nurse and activist. Priyah came to London with her parents from India and is striving to improve her position in society. Smart and capable, but vulnerable as both a younger woman with little money and as a person of color. (Note that while Priyah is from India, we are looking for any person of color, particularly South Asian, Persian or Arabic for this role.)
Josephine Butler – woman 45-60. A social worker dedicated to uplifting the women of London, especially the working poor.
Olive McGann – woman 20- 40. A former prostitute and assistant to Josephine Butler. Learning the ways of society, but still very capable in navigating the slums and back alleys of London.
Mrs. Wiggins – woman, any age. A member of Holme’s Knitting Circle, a group of working women who keep an eye out for Holmes and deliver important information.
Daniel Burke – Young man, 25-35. A respected banker from an upper-class family. His parents were administrators of the British Raj in India and brought Priya and her parents to England when Priyah and Daniel were children. Polished and aristocratic, but a bit over his head in the
business world.
Adam Worthington – man, 50-65. Teacher and science tutor. Runs a school for working class women in London to give them skills and training to improve their position in life. Charming and handsome without knowing. Comes across as a bit baffled by women.
Dock Worker – any gender or age. Working class. Sounds the alarm to mayhem at the docks.
