2026 Winter Camp

We invite you to be part of the cast of One Thousand Cranes during HG's Winter Theatre Arts Camp For Kids!

Camp meets at Clark Wood School, Elkland on January 7,8, 9, 12, 14, 15, 20, 22 from 3:40PM-5:30PM and on January 10 from 9:30AM to 1:00PM.

Performances Friday, January 23 (School time matinee) & 7:00PM public performance; Saturday, January 24 at 7:00PM.

Based on the true story of a young girl in Japan following the dropping of the atomic bomb, this story is different from our typical winter camps. It is no a musical in the usual sense, and it is much more serious in nature. There is little choreography, and ther will be instrumentals played. Sudents should be aware that this is a departure from our usual camps and should consider whether they can commit to a play like this. Rehearsals: You are expected to be at all scheduled rehearsals. Be very clear on your audition sheet to indicate any dates or times you absolutely cannot attend rehearsals. (It is possible that you will not be cast if you need to miss rehearsals.) Responsibilities: Line/song memorization. You will be expected to let the director know if there are any concerns, questions, conflicts of schedule, etc. You will be expected to provide most of your own contemporary costume, including soft-soled shoes. You will be expected to be respectful of others and maintain a cooperative and positive attitude. You are expected to allow yourself to be directed. The Winter Theatre Arts Camp is offered at no cost to campers due to a generous grant from Deerfield Charitable Trust. Each camper will receive a t-shirt, script, and instruction. The cost for public performances is pay-what-you-can. Though the cast may be fairly large, we may not be able to cast everyone who auditions. Behavioral issues, lack of motivation or cooperation may result in a student being released from participation in the camp. Also, if there are too many conflicts with rehearsal times, it is likely the student will not be able to participate.
