Benefit for HG Choirs.

Sponsored by North Country Physicians.
Once again Hamilton-Gibson Productions offers the opportunity for a unique community event as residents gather for the second annual Handel’s MESSIAH SINGALONG. On Sunday, December 16, the public is invited to bring their own score/music (or borrow one at the door) to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Pearl Street, Wellsboro, to sing the choruses from the Christmas portion of one of the great choral masterpieces of all time.
Soloists for the event are students of Dr. Youngsuk Kim, voice professor at Mansfield University. Rachel Sherman, Sara Scott, Andrew Dutko, Jocelyn Raychel, Tyler Harnsberger will sing the beautiful solos including “Comfort Ye My People”, “Every Valley,” “He Shall Feed His Flock,” and the glorious “Rejoice Greatly.” Musical accompaniment will be provided by local musicians Marian Miller and Kay Galloway on keyboard, Ken Sarch and Don Webster on violin, Ellen Murphy on viola, and Brad Holtman on cello.
Audience members will sit in the congregation according to parts: soprano, alto, tenor, bass. Dr. Michael Galloway will direct the choruses as the “audience” joins in on such pieces as “And the Glory of the Lord”, “For Unto Us a Child is Born,” and the triumphant “Hallelujah Chorus.”
The afternoon is unrehearsed and no experience is necessary. If you have a love to sing, a love of Handel’s MESSIAH, or if you’re looking for an opportunity to feel like a member of a terrific community, come to St. Paul’s on Sunday afternoon. There will be room for those who just want to listen, but everyone is encouraged to at least stand with the entire community to sing the great “Hallelujah Chorus” at the end.
The event is a benefit for Hamilton-Gibson’s Children and Youth Choirs. There is no admission charge, but contributions are welcomed and encouraged.
The entire event is sponsored by Dr. Ardell and Peggy Thomas and North Country Physicians. For more information, contact Hamilton-Gibson at 570-724-2079 or email hamgib@epix.net. Website is www.hamiltongibson.org.
